These are a few of the many names of this world, as given by the many races that reside in it. In this document I will give you (in words) a brief outline of it and some of it's denizens to help you with a greater understanding of it (hopefully).
The world itself is comprised of 3 Large continents, 2 much smaller ones and many islands and island chains strung across it's surface. A map of this world is in the progress of being put into digital format so that I can post it on the web, but it may be a while before it is complete.
For now, it is best, I think, to say that of the main continents the second largest is controlled by the Dragon Lords whom are not tolerable of other races. They are strong in magic, strong in power, and rightly control that which they have.
The compacts that give them the rights to this part of the world are old beyond belief, and are written in the stars, so the saying goes, so that everyone can see them.
It takes mighty magics or a Gods favor (or curse) for the lesser races to venture there, and they do so at their own peril. For none who have ventured there in the last 5000 years have returned.
The third largest isle is a vast wasteland of dust ash chaotic elements. Glaciers vie for footholds amidst volcanoes, massive storms reign upon the continent, snow falling upon the sizzling grounds even as rains of acid bathe the wastes in unliving fury decimating all forms of life.
Needless to say, not a vacation place, and one where the element of chaos rule everything in chaotic disharmony.
The largest continent, though, sustains life of many sorts. There are many races of intelligent life here, and there is plenty of room to sustain life.
But hatred dies hard, and even as some of these races have come to understand each other, and find ways of pacifying their hatred, others form alliances to destroy them, to rule them, and to take control of all the world.
The Largest continent can be considered to represent the 'melting pot' of the world, where all of the various other forces come to make their bid for supremacy. It represents all of the aspects of the world (and the ethos) in one place. There is very little on the continent that you will not find, though any advantages you might find in other worlds from technology (black powder, flint locks, guns, cannons, etc) do not work in the world at all.
The two smaller continents are ruled by other beings of unknown origins. Their true roots only they know, and all questions pertaining to them are usually ignored. They cannot be coerced, and all attempts to suplant them from their homes have failed, though no one is completely sure as to why. They are very different looking (some suggest extra-planar) from each other, and ignore any inquiries into their interest in each other, but it is assumed that they are either at war with each other for unknown reasons OR they are allied for some reason unknown. Maybe the answer to this will be clarified some day....
